Verifone announces the winners of its first ever Appathon!
In early August this year, we hosted our inaugural Appathon where developers participated to build applications on the Verifone Commerce Platform. The two-day Appathon was sponsored by Intel and developers were given early access to Verifone’s new developer tools for non-payment commerce applications, and hands-on training with a detailed look at how the Commerce Platform and App Marketplace is transforming the point of sale.
At the end of the two-day Appathon, 22 teams were invited to develop their proof-of-concepts into apps for official judging by executives from Intel, Vantiv, Blackhawk Network and Verifone. While the judges were impressed with the high-quality of all the final entries, three apps stood out to win the contest.
Most Innovative – BuyFi
Developers: Murgesh Navar, George Lee
BuyFi’s CRM enables businesses to automate customer engagement activities, increasing revenue potential and freeing up their time. The app uses store data analysis to provide personalized digital offers and rewards, generating customer feedback, referrals, reviews, increased repeat business and new customers.
Most Popular – flexReceipts
Developers: Kiran Kshatriyas, Vikram Multani
flexReceipts allows retailers to quickly send smart and engaging e-receipts via a built-in application on Verifone’s point-of-sale terminals. For customers who want to receive a digital receipt, the flexReceipts app prompts them for an e-mail address or mobile phone number upon successful payment processing. flexReceipts’ smart email receipts build customer loyalty and drive sales, while allowing retailers to monitor spending habits and shopping trends, and add interactive content including personalized offers, product recommendations, surveys, videos, social media and more.
| Best Business Use Case – RevTrax
Developers: Larry Wissink, Rachel Foeking, Paul Mertens
SaveInStore® by RevTrax® creates a universally accepted mobile manufacturer’s coupon for Verifone’s retailers. RevTrax is a leader in the coupon space and currently works with 350+ consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands to power manufacturer brand sites and coupon portals.
These apps had a common theme of empowering merchants to create unique customer experiences and grow their business. They support our vision for smart commerce in a connected world, in which the point-of-sale enables deeper and richer engagement between merchants and consumers.
